DOAH House
Blue Mountain, Virginia
This Blue Ridge mountainside retreat is defined by simple, cozy modernity and is designed to touch lightly on the land while elevating its occupants’ sense of connection with nature. Its form and scale were inspired partly by the huts and shelters dotting the length of the nearby Appalachian Trail; in this vein, Doah is also the prototype within PFA’s ongoing studies toward a contemporary reinterpretation of the vernacular language of the Blue Ridge region.
